L . M . P
The Laser Music Processor
LMPDEMO is an unlicensed version of the registered program and
may be freely distributed to friends, neighbors, relatives,
foreign correspondents, computer club, favorite bulletin board,
senator and congressman. LMPDEMO behaves exactly like the registered
version with the exception of saving files to disk and producing
a print-out that contains a demo message across the page.
Context-sensitive help screens have been included for the Edit,
Direct, and Buffered MIDI modes. They are accessible on each menu
by clicking on the Help Option box or pressing the F1 function key.
HARDWARE:
o 512 K of ram is recommended
o Laser Printer: HP Laser Jet 500+/II/IIP/100% compatable, or
any 9/24 pin dot-matrix graphics printer.
OPTIONAL HARDWARE:
o Mouse (Microsoft or 100% compatable) highly recommended
o MPU-401 or compatable MIDI interface (used for direct input
and playback only)
o Hard Disk recommended

HARD DISK INSTALLATION =======================================================
To use your demo on a hard disk, make a subdirectory called LMP and
copy all the files to this subdirectory.
FLOPPY DISK INSTALLATION =====================================================
To use your demo on a single floppy disk, first prepare two formated floppy
disks labeled Program Disk and Work Disk. Copy to the Program Disk:
LMPDEMO.EXE
*.DRV
MUSIC.CFG
Next copy the following files to the Work Disk:
*.M*
*.SMF
*.SFP
Place the Program Disk in drive A and type:
LMPDEMO
Remove the Program Disk after it loads and replace with the
Work Disk and continue.

Every order comes with a 160 page fully illustrated manual. A brief overview
is listed below for our demo users:
To start LMP at your computer prompt press:
LMPDEMO
L.M.P will auto-select the correct video driver for your system, or
you can override with a single letter arugument such as:
LMPDEMO X
where X is the display your computer uses. H = Herc, C = CGA,
A = ATT6300, M = Mono EGA, E = EGA, and V = VGA.
After the L.M.P opening screen displays, you will be in the Edit
Mode Screen. Press F3 to list the available files. This will display
the Manuscript Library where you may choose any sheet of music to
display by selecting with your cursor or mouse and pressing enter.
After choosing a music file to load, you will return to the Edit Screen
and you will see in the bottom right you will see a large note in a box.
This is the Note Status Box. It displays the note value and stem direction.
Placing your mouse pointer in the box and pressing the right
mouse button will change stem direction. The backslash key will also
change note values. The numbered keys 1-6 will place a note at the
edit cursors position. 1 being a whole note, 2 a half note, etc.
with the 7-0 keys placing accidental information.
F1 at any time will display the numonic chart of commands. Press the
indicated letters in their order to obtain the desired result.
MIDI mode is in two sections:
o Press MID for DIRECT mode (play direct to screen in STEP TIME)
Use the backspace key to make corrections and the M key to place
measure lines.
o Press MIB for BUFFERED mode (play into a MIDI buffer in REAL TIME).
Press N for single note scoring, M for full measure scoring, or P
to page scoring.
Load the sample file called SYMBOLS and print it out for help with symbols.
With a ASCII word editor read and edit the MUSIC.CFG file to help with the
configuration of your system and printer.
This demo version of L.M.P has all the same features of the regular version
with the exception that the save function has been removed. Also, the title
font does not contain any punctuation to conserve space on this disk.
New features to version 3.2 include:
o Print to file (great on networks) and LPT1/2 support
o Quanitization
o Score by Note, Measure, or Paged compleately
o Adjustable beat & metronome defaults
o Flashing cursor/VLS (Variable Length Symbols) during editing.
o Intelligent accidentals depending on key
o Multiple page documents (100 page max)
o Automatic note to staff justification
o Address and Interrupt (IRQ) driven and user selectible
o Merge files together
o Copy block function now copies all VLS information
